Cell Phones & Dress Code

CELL PHONES & CONNECTED DEVICES

• Cell phones, earbuds, headphones, and smartwatches must be in backpacks or completely out of sight from the first bell to the final bell.
• Use in class is NOT allowed unless approved by school administration for instructional purposes.
• Students are only permitted to use school issued Chromebooks during school hours.
  • Personal devices (laptops, tablets, phones, etc.) are not allowed unless approval has been granted by school administration for specific circumstances.
• STRICTLY PROHIBITED in bathrooms, locker rooms, and back office areas.
• Phones should not be out for any reason during instructional hours.
• Phones may be permitted during special events (e.g., Homecoming, Pep Rallies) with administration approval.

DRESS CODE OVERVIEW

PANTS, SHORTS, SKIRTS & DRESSES

• Must follow the “finger palm” rule: No shorter than where fingers meet palm.
• No holes/rips above finger-palm length that expose skin.
• Leggings/yoga pants are allowed to be worn with shirts that do not show the midriff or undergarments.
• Yoga shorts are not allowed.
• No visible undergarments or see-through areas where they are normally worn.

SHIRTS/TOPS

• Not Allowed: Tank tops, halter tops, spaghetti straps, strapless, backless, or midriff-exposing tops.
• Sleeveless tops must have 3-finger-width straps.
• Tops must not expose the midriff, even with arms extended forward.
• No low-cut or revealing tops.
• Palm Width Rule: Shirt neckline may not fall lower than pinky finger when hand is placed horizontally at the base of the collarbone.

CLOTHING EXPECTATIONS

• No pajamas, blankets, house shoes, slippers, or cleats in the building.
• No trench coats or dusters allowed.
• Clothing must be safe and appropriate for all school activities, including science labs, PE, and shop classes.
• Prohibited content: Alcohol, drugs, sexual imagery, violence, profanity, racism, satanic symbols, gang references, or anything vulgar.
• No spikes, wallet chains, or dangerous accessories.

HAIR, ACCESSORIES & APPEARANCE

• Hair must be clean, neat, natural color, and not cover eyes.
• No unnatural hair colors (pink, blue, green, purple, etc.).
• Facial hair must be groomed and clean.
• No face paint or facial designs.
• Makeup should not be distracting (admin discretion).

PIERCINGS

• Ears: Hoops/studs allowed. Gauges/plugs max size = 0g (8mm).
• Nose: Studs/hoops up to 2mm allowed.
• All other piercings must use clear spacers.

GLASSES

• No sunglasses inside unless medically required with a doctor’s note.

REMINDERS FOR SUCCESS

• Shoes are required at all times.
• All clothing must be appropriate for school and aligned with our values of respect, safety, and focus.
• Administration reserves the right to make final determinations on dress and device violations.
